After a brief stint volunteering in the Emergency Room during college, where needles were stacked in neat piles and dirtied gauze was collected like candy at Halloween, I realized that medicine wasn’t the right path for me. Thankfully, I already knew this somewhere deep, and I’d chosen to be both pre-med and an English literature major. I already had my plan B sketched out, and began Miami University’s first official food blog for the college paper.
Since then, I’ve graduated with my English degree, finished a master’s certificate in business informatics to better understand how to optimize web articles and work toward client goals, worked in publishing for five years, and continue to freelance in food, entertainment, and fine art industries.
Writing about culture will always be my favorite way to process the evolution of our society’s art, food and entertainment. When I’m not writing, I’m probably in an art museum or making a mess in the kitchen with my husband, our dog Artie, and my decade-long muse: my 20-pound orange cat, Chester.
